But is this right for us?

DFD Lab families are the most driven, dedicated families when it comes to minimizing student debt, or out-of-pocket costs, when it comes to paying for college. They want the best for their student but are also willing to desert the beaten path in order to find a better way for paying for college.

They’re active participants with positive attitudes. They aren’t excuse makers and they don’t threaten to give up when the process gets tough, they give constructive feedback, and understand the importance of graduating from college debt-free.

Sound like you and your family? Then you belong here.

This applies to these families who:

  • Have students in high school (any grade) or college (up to senior year).
  • Have low income OR moderate income level to where you won’t receive financial aid to cover the bill.
  • Are stuck in the middle of the income levels - where you can’t cut a check to pay for college, but you also aren’t awarded any aid.
  • Have students with all sorts of test scores or GPAs - your student does not need a perfect GPA or high SAT score to benefit from DFD Lab.
  • Don’t want to pay thousands of dollars for a college consultant, yet want access to helpful information for the college process.
  • Want their children to have the opportunity to pursue their dreams after college, versus be buried in student loan debt.

Who is Debt-Free Degree Lab For?

Parents/Guardians with:

Freshmen — Many students are only focused on getting situated in high school for this first year. That is okay! If your family wants to join DFD Lab, we suggest utilizing lessons created around building competitiveness, involvements, time management skills, athletic scholarships (if that's their thing) and more that we have accessible in the DFD Lab Library.

Sophomores — While sophomore year is also still early, some strategies have to be implemented by fall semester of junior year which means we need to learn them prior to that. This is mainly around tax and FAFSA strategies. Students can also focus on the lessons mentioned for freshmen, including involvement, leadership activities, getting competitive, athletic scholarships, test prep, and more.

Juniors — Here we go! Nearly every single strategy inside Debt-Free Degree Lab is applicable now! We highly recommend families joining by junior year in high school to maximize the strategies in all categories and topics. If you wait until senior year, you may feel stressed by how many opportunities you have! The earlier, the better. There will be FAFSA and tax strategies to increase financial aid offers, college search tips, writing essays, test taking, time management, the list goes on! But don't worry - as long as you're a member, you can revisit each lesson as many times as you need!

Seniors — Senior year - where many families focus on admissions and then realize LAST MINUTE that they need to figure out the bill! It's never too late to strategize and implement strategies (Read college students below!) but we want to kick it into high gear if your student is in their senior year! Finding the right financial fit, maximizing financial aid with FAFSA strategies, negotiating and appealing with colleges, writing essays, and so much more! Every lesson except transferring credits applies now!

College Students — Did you know it is NOT too late to change what you're paying for college even after your student is already there? It's true! In fact, nearly all strategies are applicable to families with college students with the exception of choosing a college (unless they want to transfer - we have a lesson on that, too!) Making Money in College, Saving Money in College, Negotiating and Appealing, Payment Plans, Credit Card Hacking, Tax Strategies, FAFSA Strategies, and so much more all apply to your family!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1) THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER OPTIONS OUT THERE -- IN FACT, I HAVE 5 OTHER COURSES SITTING ON MY COMPUTER, WAITING FOR ME. WHAT MAKES THE DFD LAB DIFFERENT?

  • First, the DFD Lab is NOT “another course” or even “another membership group.” It’s so much more… and LESS. Yes, less. We know you’re already overwhelmed with ideas, content, courses, and information. That’s why we will help you start with the end in mind and figure out what you need to do TOMORROW to get you where you need to be with the paying-for-college process.
  • Then we give you the specific steps to get there… and make sure you get it. Your family is never left alone to figure it out on your own.
  • Focus. Accountability. Guidance. Support. And a whole bunch of laughter to go along with it.

2) HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BE A MEMBER?

$497 per year. Anyone who gets in at this all-time low rate will be grandfathered in for life.

3) CAN I CANCEL AT ANY TIME?

Yes, but we hope you won't! You can cancel really easily by contacting us at [email protected].

4) CAN I GET A REFUND?

We stand behind our promises. That means, once you join us, you have 30 days to claim a refund if you feel like the DFD Lab annual membership isn’t for you or has offered you no value. Just contact us at [email protected] and we will process it immediately, no questions asked.

5) OUR FAMILY IS JUST STARTING THE COLLEGE PROCESS… DOES MY STUDENT HAVE TO BE A SENIOR OR HAVE CHOSEN THEIR COLLEGE TO DO THIS?

No, not at all. In fact, we actually can help those who have yet to choose a college even more! So the younger, the better! We welcome passionate, dedicated newcomers.

6) OUR STUDENT HAS ALREADY CHOSEN THEIR COLLEGE. IS THIS JUST FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T STARTED THE PROCESS YET?

Nope! If you’ve already chosen a school, there is still tons of opportunity to cut cost the cost of that school and find debt-free money to cover the bill. Remember: it is an ongoing process to graduate debt-free.

You’re also familiar with what I call the “college process roller coaster.” Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, a new set of problems arise to test your patience, determination, and commitment! When tackling the college process, we are always encountering the unknown. And wherever you are in that journey, the DFD Lab is here to help you out.

7) OUR STUDENT IS ALREADY IN COLLEGE. IS THIS JUST FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T STARTED COLLEGE YET?

The biggest opportunity is for families with students who have yet to begin college. Still, college students certainly have the opportunity to cut costs and secure debt-free money while already in college. We already have lessons that will apply to your situation so yes!

8) WHY DO YOU LIMIT ENROLLMENT PERIODS?

We are absolutely dedicated to making sure each and every one of our members receives the royal treatment when they join. We limit enrollment to a few times a year so we can create an experience where new members are warmly received, supported, and guided to all that the DFD Lab has to offer.

By holding dedicated enrollment periods, we can dedicate time and resources to welcoming each new “class” of members.

9) WE LIVE IN THE SOUTH/THE NORTHEAST/WEST COAST… MY STUDENT ISN’T A STRAIGHT-A-STUDENT/ATHLETE/LOW INCOME… MY STUDENT DOESN’T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT TO MAJOR IN... WILL THIS HELP US?

YES. These are common myths when it comes to paying for college (don’t worry - we will bust those once you join us!). It doesn’t matter if your student has a less-than-perfect GPA/ACT/SAT score, doesn’t know what they want to do with their life or if your family has a decent income level, we can help you!
